The Depths of God
Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. Psalm 42:7 (KJV)
God wants us to go deeper in Him. He draws us to go deeper so He can take us further and further into Him. The deeper we go, the more we know Him, and the more easily we can overcome trouble and hardship. We’ll be able to go victoriously through the deep waters of battles and trials. The more we experience God, the further God can take us out into deep waters to answer His call, to do His Work, to fulfill His plan.
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. The deeper God digs in our hearts, the more we can receive from God. and know God. The deeper the roots, the more the fruit. In order to build upon rock, a builder must dig deep into the soil until he gets to the rock. The deeper God digs, the sturdier our foundation will be, and we will not be shaken by the storms of life. When storms come, our house will not fall, but it will stand, and when the storm has passed we will still be standing. Don’t resist the deep work of God in your heart.
Going deeper means God can pour His Word and Spirit deeper in us. The Spirit searches the deep things of God, wherein we can receive a deeper revelation of God, His Word, His presence, and His power. God can take us deeper in His Word, giving us deeper revelations of Scripture.
Deep calls unto deep, as Psalm 42 tells us. God’s Spirit calls to our spirits. Don’t resist or ignore Him. Let Him take you deeper- deeper by His Spirit, deeper by His hand, deeper by His Word, deeper by His voice- as the Holy Spirit leads and guides us into all truth. The deeper we go in God, the deeper the truth that is revealed. And the deeper the truth that is revealed, the deeper we go in God. It is a cycle that takes our relationship with the Lord ever deeper.

If you’ve been wondering if there is more to the Christian life than what you are experiencing, that is the Lord calling you to go deeper. The deep things of God will satisfy us. We can drink deep of God’s Spirit. We can feed upon the depths of God’s Word. We can live deep in the presence of God. God calls us daily to go deeper. The reward is that we find more of God, experiencing more of His depths. Don’t hesitate- spend time studying and meditating the Word, pray, and worship God. Surrender to His call and go deeper in God today.
