Answering The Call
Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me. Psalm 42:7 (NKJV)
Deep calls unto deep means God’s Spirit calls to our spirits. Even in the midst of trouble, God calls out to us. Don’t let trouble drown out God’s call to you. Answer God’s call to come closer. As we draw closer to God, God comes closer to us to draw us even closer… to eventually draw us up to Him and even into Him.
In God is a world of wonder, of love, of mystery and discovery. Jesus sat down in His Father’s throne. Jesus came out of God, then went back to God and in God.
But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. John 10:38 (KJV)
For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. John 16:27 (KJV)
For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. John 17:8 (KJV)
Jesus said that He is in the Father and the Father is in Him. Then, Jesus prayed that we’d all be one- one in God and therefore it shows that God intends for us to be in Him. Yes, when we accept Jesus, we are positionally in Christ, meaning we are in God. However, experientially, God wants us to draw closer until we experience what it means to be in Him. The journey begins when we are born again, then continues as we get filled with the Holy Spirit, and continues further as the Spirit takes us deeper and deeper in God. Even when He corrects us, He still calls us closer to Him because He corrects only those He loves so nothing will keep us away from Him.
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! Romans 11:33 (KJV)
When we are in God, we see and discover the wonder, the beauty of God- His ways past finding out- He calls us to go even deeper in Him. We can never get to the very deepest part of God because He never ends- His ways are past finding out. But, we cannot explain the joy and excitement of the journey as we go deeper and deeper and see more and more of Who He is.
God calls us to go deeper through studying His Word, praying, and worshiping. We seek Him, wait on Him, behold Him, hunger and thirst for Him. All of this takes us deeper. The deeper we go, the more of God we encounter, and the more of Him we want. Thus, we know Him more and more. God is so deep, it will take all of eternity to discover and continually know Him. God is calling us to go deeper and deeper into Him. Let’s answer the call and get lost in the amazing magnificence and wonder that is Him.
