What You Put In Determines What You'll Get Out

If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath. Mark 4:23-25 (KJV)

Verse 23 speaks of the fact that you must have ears to hear in order to learn. This refers to your desire to learn. When you have that desire, you put yourself in a position to hear and be taught. Then it is your responsibility to absorb what is taught.

Verse 24 tells us to take heed what we hear. Why are we to place an importance on what we hear? Because what we put into learning determines what we get out of it. The more we put our heart, mind, and body into learning, hearing, and receiving revelation, knowledge and wisdom, the more of it we will get. It’s the law of sowing and reaping. Sow a little and you’ll reap a little. Sow a lot and you’ll reap a lot. Our effort in learning decides how much we will actually learn towards growing in our walk with God. What we sow will be measured back to us. If we sow a good effort and desire to learn, then that is what we will receive. And unto us that hear shall more be given. As we hear with our spirits what God is saying, more shall be given to us. The more we study, the more we learn with God. For those with hungry hearts, God can and will accelerate the growth process.

Verse 25 tells us to use what we’ve got. For he that hath, to him shall be given. The more we receive, the more God will give us. We have to put ourselves in a position to receive from God by spending time with Him. On the other hand, this verse also says he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath. This is the law of use, or as we often say, “use it or lose it.” If we use the knowledge, revelation and wisdom we’ve been given, God will increase it. That is why some people learn certain things and then hit a plateau in their growth. It is because they did not use what they had been given so God doesn’t take them any further or deeper.

Place an importance on learning and studying, as well as the things God shows you, and then use them. As you do, you’ll be given more and more. Happy digging and studying!
