The Head and The Body are One

The Head and The Body are One

And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. Ephesians 1:22-23 (KJV)

Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. I Corinthians 12:27 (KJV)

Christ is the Head of the church. The church is Christ’s body. God calls the Head and the body one. Therefore the Head does not do anything without the body, and the body can do nothing without the Head. Stop and meditate on that for a moment. This seems like a simple, straight-forward statement, but there is some important truth here.

Christ, the Head, is victorious, healthy, powerful, loving, giving, and has defeated the enemy for His body, the church. Christ is not sick, weak, or defeated. And the church is not to be sick, weak, or defeated, since it is connected to Jesus Christ. As the body lines up to the Head and does what the Head wants, it will be successful and victorious. What we often try to do as the church is to act independent of the Head, which never works.

Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. I John 4:17 (KJV)

Christ, the Head, wants love and healing to work in and through His body on the earth. He rules from heaven, and He wants His body to rule on earth now. As Christ is, so He wants His body to be.. He wants to speak, touch, and move through His body- just like Jesus did through His physical body when He was on earth. He saved, healed, cast out devils, raised the dead, and met people’s needs. Christ wants to do the same things now through His church, the body.

Christ is now sitting in heaven but He is also still on the earth- through His body. Christ, through His church, wants to use each part of His body to do the works He did and greater works (John 14:12). The Head and the body are one, and they should work together to accomplish God’s purposes in the earth.
