Like A Cool Wind on a Hot Day

Like A Cool Wind on a Hot Day

So repent [change your inner self—your old way of thinking, regret past sins] and return [to God—seek His purpose for your life], so that your sins may be wiped away [blotted out, completely erased], so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord [restoring you like a cool wind on a hot day]; Acts 3:19 (Amplified Bible, AMP)

As Christians, we have a wonderful promise of refreshing. While the world struggles along, feeling burdened and worn out, we can receive refreshing and restoration in God’s presence. This is one of the benefits of being a child of God. The Amplified Bible describes it like a cool wind on a hot day. We can all relate to that. When we are hot, sweaty, and thirsty from being out in the hot weather, nothing feels as good as a cool wind. It cools and refreshes and counteracts the effects of the heat. And we can experience that same kind of refreshing in the presence of the Lord.

We don’t have to sweat and toil and try to make things happen on our own. We will become tired, frustrated and hot under the collar. What we need to do is come away with the Lord and we will experience His refreshing, and He will do for us what we cannot do.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.] Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition, AMPC)

If you are weary, worn out, beat down and discouraged, chances are you aren’t spending much, if any, time with the Lord. His presence is a game changer. Just sitting for a time with the Lord brings us much needed encouragement, energy, and wisdom. Our perspective is adjusted as we sit with Him. He shows us things we didn’t see before, and He gives us answers for the things that have perplexed us. We have easy access to the Lord by the blood of Jesus. All we have to do is come to Him, and He will give us relief, ease, refreshment, recreation, and blessed quiet for our souls.

You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11 (NKJV)

Stop struggling with life and enter in to His presence. I guarantee you that you’ll find rest, and it will be as refreshing as a cool wind on a hot day.
