God is Everything We Need- Part 1

God is Everything We Need- Part 1

One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. Psalm 27:4 (KJV)

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33 (KJV)

Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. Luke 10:38-42 (KJV)

Much of the time, we want things that do not satisfy, last, or bring us fulfillment. We must know and understand the reason we’re on earth to begin with. Life begins and ends with God, and everything in-between is to be for Him.

When we pursue things more than God, we end up with things that break and wear out and not God. Then, the thing has us and becomes our god. Nothing and no one can take the place of the Lord God. After all is said and done, we all come back to the truth that we need God. Life is knowing God, for God is life, life comes from God, and God gives us His life if we will come to Him.

So, we must know God before we know or pursue anything else. As we pursue God, seek Him, spend time with Him and have a personal ongoing relationship with God, we are fulfilled and satisfied, no matter what else we may or may not have. In putting Him first, everything else comes in line, and we experience God’s order in our lives.

The more we live life with God in the center of it, the happier we will be. But, more than that, we will know God, which is the real meaning and purpose of life. Knowing and loving God is our purpose and the thing that truly satisfies us. He already knows and loves us, and we are just responding to Him. As we show our love to God and He shows His love to us, we become closer and closer to Him, and we are changed and transformed into His image. We draw near through studying His Word, worshiping Him, waiting on and seeking Him, praying and listening to Him, sitting in His presence, fasting, etc. As we hunger and thirst for God, we will experience that needful thing that Mary chose- God.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
