How He Heals

Healing is available for God’s children. That truth is throughout the Bible.

I am the Lord that healeth thee. Exodus 15:26 (KJV)

The word Lord is the name Jehovah. The Hebrew word for healeth is Rapha, which means to cure, heal, repair, mend, restore health. Therefore, God is Jehovah Rapha, the Lord that healeth thee. He is the Lord our Physician, our Doctor.

This verse in Exodus speaks of literal, physical healing. God made the body, and God heals the body (as well as the soul and spirit).

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Proverbs 4:20-22 (KJV)

This speaks of God’s Word being like medicine, a remedy, or a cure.

He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Psalm 107:20 (KJV)

We see that God heals through the Word. How else does He heal us?

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. I Peter 2:24 (KJV)

He heals us by the stripes of Jesus Christ.

Then came the word of the Lord to Isaiah, saying, Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years. Isaiah 38:4-5 (KJV)

God heals by a word of prophecy.

The ways and manners of healing are many. I have seen many healings in my time. Some have been physical healings where the blind see, the injured walk, the deaf hear, and so on. Some have been soul healings, where emotional and mental healing came to repair wounds in the souls of broken people. I have seen people born again and thus healed in their spirits. No matter the brokeness, God has provided all healing for all humans.

As we come to the Lord, He will minister healing to us by His Word, Spirit and through His body of believers. Because the Lord is love, He heals us when we come to Him. He loves us back to wholeness.Jesus paid the price and shed His precious blood for our total well-being. No matter the ailment, God will heal us and make us whole, restoring all that’s been lost. When we hurt, we must not forget that God says, “I am the Lord that healeth thee.”
