Morning, Noon, and Evening Unto God

Morning, Noon, and Evening Unto God

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. Psalm 5:3 (KJV)

Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. Psalm 55:17 (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Psalm 141:2 (KJV)

In the Psalms, David mentions praying and coming to God morning, noon, and evening. He said that in the morning he would pray to God. At midday he would use his voice to come to God in prayer and worship. At evening, he said he would offer unto the Lord prayer and sacrifice and then rest in Him.

Morning

God invites us to seek Him in the morning in prayer. As we encounter Him in the morning, it releases God’s presence in our day. The breath of God breathes on the day to bring newness, freshness, and His Spirit brooding over our day to bring forth new things.

Noon

As we draw near to God throughout the day, we can offer up to Him the prayer and praise that is in us and bring Him into our circumstances. In doing this, we live unto God throughout our day. In other words, we offer our day and all its moments to Him. We do this to draw near to our Father’s heart, to touch the Lord Jesus and to bring honor to the Holy Spirit. with our time.

Evening

As our day of activity comes to a close, we come before God to pray, worship Him, and rest in Him. Our offering of worship and prayer come before Him as a sweet smell as we thank Him for what he has done in our day. We are safe in our Father’s love and we can lay down, knowing the same care and protection He gave us during the day will continue through the night. In casting our care on Him, we find rest from the day’s events. We experience peace and gentle slumber as we fall asleep in our God’s loving care.

This paints a picture of ow we are to pray without ceasing (I Thessalonians 5:17), praise Him continually (Hebrews 13:15) and live a lifestyle of worship (I Corinthians 14:15-18, John 4:23-24).
