The Flame of His Love

The Flame of His Love

For our God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12:29 (KJV)

God is love. I John 4:8 (KJV)

God is a spirit that burns with holy fire because He is so pure and self-existing. His love burns with a passionate fire for us; it is an all-consuming fire. It is so holy, it will burn up all sin in our lives. It will purge and purify us so we burn with one holy desire- a burning love for the Lord. It will cause us to hate what God hates and love what He loves. The closer we get to the fire of God’s love, the more it will purge out of us.

He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire. Matthew 3:11 (KJV)

Water baptism is symbolic of us partaking of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. The baptism of the Holy Ghost and fire came in Acts 2, when the Holy Spirit came by wind and fire and they were all filled and spoke in tongues. God wants to submerge us in His love- both inside and outside- where the Spirit that’s in us comes upon us, making us on fire with the Spirit and God’s love. At that point, we’re consumed with God, and no matter what, we won’t stop living for God.

The fire of His love will melt hard hearts, warm cold hearts, and burn up any hurt we’ve experienced. God’s love burns deep and bright in us and the fire keeps us in love with Jesus and each other. Hurt, bitterness, disappointment cannot remain in us when the fire of His love is present. As we remain on fire, we can spread it to others, igniting them for God. When we burn bright with the love of God, we will be able to stamp out sickness, poverty, and all pain.

So, let’s get on fire and stay on fire. If your love for the Father has grown cold, spend time in His presence. Receive a fresh filling of God daily by His Word and Spirit. Reignite yourself through worship, prayer, fasting, and seeking and waiting on the Lord. The truth is that we can have as much of God as we desire, for God is unlimited.

Therefore, let God so love you that everything that is not of Him is burned up until all that is left is the flame of His love burning brightly in you. When you do, others will come and watch you burn for God with all the fire of His love.
