The Glory- Part 2

The Glory- Part 2

Today we continue our discussion on the glory of God. Yesterday, we approached the subject from an Old Testament perspective. Now we move on to the New Testament.

Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. II Thessalonians 2:14 (KJV)

Here, the word glory is the Greek word doxa, meaning honor, brightness, glory, or something exalted. It speaks of all the excellencies of God. It is all that He is in His character: His majesty, power, and radiance. It points to His love, holiness and all His divine attributes. God’s glory carries all that God is: His very essence. As we mentioned yesterday, it is His manifest presence that can be felt and sometimes seen.

God has called us to obtain this glory by the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Old Testament times, they experienced the glory, but we can experience and have the glory! In Christ is found the very glory of God. Jesus is the God of glory; the Lord of Glory, so by His Word, we can obtain this glory. We can experience it by the Holy Spirit of Glory- line upon line until we’re changed into the very likeness of Christ.

As we fellowship and worship Jesus, we experience the Lord and His glory. Jesus has glory for all of us, but only the hungry, thirsty, seeking, waiting ones will obtain it. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for the Lord and His glory, for they will be filled to overflowing and satisfied.

And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: John 17:22 (KJV)

The glory of the Lord is magnificent and something to greatly desire!
