A Way of Life

Christianity is not a religion, but it is to be a lifestyle based on a personal relationship with the Lord. As Christians, how are we to live?

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)

First of all, we are to live with our minds stayed, or set on, the Lord. God has given us the mind of Christ, so the more we renew our minds with God’s Word, the more we will think and function with the mind of Christ. The goal is to think like Jesus thinks.

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2 (KJV)

We are to live with our eyes on Jesus, looking to Him. As we do, we will become more like Him. What we look at is what we think on and desire, so as we keep our focus on Jesus, we will see and desire Him above all other things.

If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God…. I Peter 4:11 (KJV)

As we think on God’s Word and look to Jesus, we will begin to speak God’s Word and we will experience results.

…Whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. I Corinthians 10:31 (KJV)

As we follow the things we have mentioned, we will be disposed to do what we do for the glory of God. We will live for God and for others and not for ourselves. As a result, our lives will take on new meaning.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6 (KJV)

Our hearts will hunger for the Lord and not for the things of the world. Worldly things will lose their appeal once we have experienced the presence of the Holy Spirit and the revelation of His Word. Once we realize that only God satisfies, the more we hunger for Him. The more we hunger for Him, the more He fills us to overflowing. And the cycle repeats over and over, becoming a way of life. Jesus is the Way, and as we live for Him, He becomes our Way of life.
