Holy Fire

I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire. Matthew 3:11 (KJV)

We regularly need a fresh infilling of the Holy Ghost and fire because life can be hard. When we first get saved, we are on fire for the Lord. Then, difficult things come and bad things happen which can harden our hearts and dampen the fire of God. We must ask God to fill us daily with a fresh infilling and baptism of fire to melt away the hardness and the coldness that has accummulated in us.

The things we face in life do affect our hearts. They can negatively impact our fire, love, passion, hunger and thirst for God. We have to stay plugged into God, His Word, His Spirit, His presence, and His power. As we spend time with God, His Word can cut away what’s not from God. His presence can melt a cold, hard heart and set it on fire again. But first, just be still and let God love you- to heal every hurt and mend the broken places. As we receive God’s love, we’re made whole again. And then we can burn with the fire of God’s love.

As God consumes us in Him, the harsh realities of life will not affect us like they did before. Rather than being consumed with the problems of the world and life, we will be consumed with the Lord. And we will stay on fire for Jesus and the world will see us burn brightly for Him. Then they, in turn, will be exposed to the fire of God to melt their hearts and change them.
