Don't Be Against Yourself
And if Satan fights against himself he will not endure, and his end has come. Mark 3:26 (The Passion Translation, TPT)
The devil understands the idea of dividing and conquering. He tries to use this strategy against people all the time. We are all aware that he tries to divide us from each other, but did you know that he also tries to get us to be divided against ourselves as individuals?
The enemy tries to get you to hate yourself, to be against yourself, to be in strife with yourself. And he wants you to not forgive yourself when you’ve made a mistake or fallen short. Listen, we’ve all messed up, made mistakes, and made bad decisions. I know that I made a number of unwise choices throughout my life and I had regrets. I had to forgive myself and let it all go. And you do too. The worst thing we can do is beat ourselves up over personal failures and sins. We must not allow the enemy to use it against us to divide, conquer and defeat each of us.
Another way the enemy works to divide us against ourselves is by comparisons. He is continually pointing out how we are not as smart, attractive, or as successful as someone else. He loves to make people hate their looks, their personalities, and their abilities. He has used society (and photoshop) to create standards that no one can attain. And he uses the strategy of comparisons to go after people to make them feel unattractive, unaccepted, and unloved. No wonder our young people have been committing suicide at alarming rates.
Make the decision today to forgive yourself and stop being against yourself. After all, God is for you, so you can be for yourself. You are made in the very image of God himself, and whatever He makes is good. Love yourself, accept who you are, and see the positive that is in you instead of focusing on the negative. Make the most of who God made you and make the most of your life. Find out what God has said about you in the Word, and gain a healthy image of yourself. Envision yourself succeeding in whatever you put your hand to. Be yourself and believe in yourself. God believes in you and likes you, and you should too.
