Let Peace Be Your Guide

Let Peace Be Your Guide

Colossians 3:15 in the Amplified Bible Classic Edition says:

And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always].

This verse is so simple and helpful if we follow its instruction. Throughout our days, and even our lifetimes, we have so many decisions that come to us. "God, should I do this?"  "Should I go here?"  "Should I buy this?"  "Should I draw near to this person or keep my distance?"  The quesstions are numerous.  I have found that it is best to check with God first, and not after the fact.  And He is faithful to show us the way.

Just reccently, an opportunity presented itself for me to go back to Bible college for more schooling.  I researched and got information on the college in order to make an informed decision.  As I was thinking and praying about it, I lost my peace- in other words, I began to feel uneasy about it in my spirit.  God was using this "check" or hesitation in my spirit to get my attention and to help me avoid a wrong decision.  Once I decided I was not going to go back to college at this time, my peace returned.  God gave me peace in order to guide me to make the right choice.  I understand that God has other things planned.  This is a major way that the Holy Spirit is our Guide in life.

Similar to an umpire, peace will decide what needs to be in or out of your life.  The Lord has called us to live in peace, not confusion or conflict.  So, let God's peace rule in your life and heart.  God will always provide peace to lead and guide us into the right path.
