Bigger Than Your Mess
God is so much bigger than we can imagine. Isaiah 40 gives us a glimpse of His greatness.
Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance? Isaiah 40:112 (KJV)
God, is an all-knowing, all-wise, all-powerful, ever-present God who measures the waters of earth in His hand. He measures Heaven with the width of His hand, and He weighs the mountains in scales and hills in a balance. He is just that big.
Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing. Isaiah 40:15 (KJV)
Compare Him to the nations. They are tiny drops in His bucket and as small as a speck of dust to Him. The islands of the world are microscopic in comparison to Him.
To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him? Isaiah 40:18 (KJV)
No one, absolutely no one, compares to Him because there is no one like Him- not even close.
To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth. Isaiah 40:25-26 (KJV)
God has no equal. Look and see that God created all things. He brings out the stars and calls them by name. Can you begin to comprehend how big God is? Once you do, know that He is even bigger than that because He is beyond imagination or understanding. He can weigh the massive waters of earth- all oceans, seas, rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, and even the water flowing under the ground, as well as the water held in the clouds- in His hand. Notice that it says hand, not hands. He can measure all that water in just one of His hands. The nations of the world are but a drop in the bucket to Him. They are counted as a small thing to Him. He numbers and names the stars throughout the vastness of space. My friend, God is massive beyond anything we can ever consider.
Yet- God is so personal. He made every single person. He knows us all by name. According to Psalm 139, He knows our thoughts and even the words we will say before we ever say them. He knows the number of hairs on our heads. He sees our hearts and is acquainted with our ways. He knows our every move- our sitting down and rising up. There are billions of people in the world, and God knows them all intimately- from day one to their last day on earth.
Despite all this, no matter what mess we make, or we let the devil make, regardless of its size or duration, God can unravel and fix it. He showed this when man sinned, fell, and was separated from God. His plan was to bring us back to Him through Jesus. So, is anything too hard or impossible for God? No!
No matter what we face, God is working to undo, outdo, and overdo anything that has happened and to make it better than before. There is no problem that God doesn’t have the answer to. There is no case that God can’t win. There’s no dilemma out of which God cannot deliver us. The next time you are tempted to worry, think of all the people in the world, all the stars in the sky, and every grain of sand on the earth. God made and knows each one. And everything He created is just a drop in the bucket to Him. He is bigger than your mess. Just trust and let God show you everything He can and will do for those who love Him.
