A Time For Everything- Part 2

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (English Standard Version, ESV)

Yesterday, we discussed that life has its seasons and that there is an appropriate time for everything. Let’s continue our look at Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.

A Time to Embrace

In relationships, there is a time to be together. Fellowship is sweet and beautiful at the right time.

A Time to Refrain from Embracing

There are also times to step back and give each other room and space. This keeps relationships healthy and makes the coming back together even more enjoyable.

A Time to Seek

We are to seek God at all times.

A Time to Lose

We must lose whatever keeps us from seeking God.

A Time to Keep

Hold fast to God’s Word and to the things He tells you to hold onto.

A Time to Cast Away

Release and get rid of that which God tells you to discard. It will only hold you back from your purpose and destiny.

A Time to Tear

Sometimes we must tear ourselves and others from certain things and relationships. Sometimes, we must tear ourselves from things we like in order to reach for something better.

A Time to Sew

There are times to mend and bring back together things that we’ve torn. If we have torn something in someone else’s life, we must reaffirm our love for them.

A Time to Keep Silence

Be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to get angry (James 1:19). This will help in every area of life. Sometimes we are better off holding our tongue. It helps with self-control and discipline. We don’t need to give our opinion all the time.

A Time to Speak

There is an appropriate time to speak and give our opinion and share our knowledge. At the correct time, our words can help others grow and solve problems. Our words should always be in line with the Bible and should be seasoned with grace.

A Time to Love

We are to love people, but not sin. We are to love the things of God. Love is what distinguishes Christians from the rest of the world.

A Time to Hate

We are to hate sin, the things of satan, and the things of the world. we must have a hatred of anything that draws us away from the Lord.

A Time for War

We go to war to establish or reestablish peace. War for the right reasons: justice, righteousness, liberty, the rights of people, and godly values.

A Time for Peace

Peace is to be valued and fought for. When peace prevails, life s good and we are at rest. However, we can have inner peace through Jesus Christ no matter what is going on around us.

There is a time for everything. As we discern the time we are in and the reasons for the things we do ,we won’t miss God. We’ll do the right things for the right reasons at the right time. And we’ll get right results.
