What A Bargain!

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38 (KJV)

God wants us to give. God gave us an example to follow when He Gave us Jesus. And Jesus set an example when He gave Himself for all. God is a giving God. He gives and keeps giving because that is Who He is.

When God tells you to give- no matter what it is- He’s not trying to take something away from you. Instead, He is positioning you to receive greater than what you currently have. The greater the sacrifice, the greater the supply.

Jesus took two fish and five loaves of bread from a little boy and made it into more than what was given. In fact, the leftovers they had at the end, 12 baskets full, were more than what was given in the beginning. That’s what God wants to do with you. If you will be willing and obedient to give to Jesus what you have, Jesus can work a miracle for you and give you more than what you started with.

It may seem that God is asking you to give so that you’ll have less, but it is the opposite. God is working to give you more, but He must have something to work with. God gives seed to the sower so we have something to give to Him. Then God has something to multiply. He may ask you to sow many things: finances, time, a job, a house, whatever. Just know that He has more in store.

The greater the battle, the greater the blessing. It is always a challenge to sow, but will you take Jesus at His Word?

Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. Luke 5:4-7 (KJV)

Peter did as Jesus instructed and let down the net. As a result, he got more fish than he bargained for. However, Jesus told him to let down the nets- plural. Peter let down the net- singular. He didn’t follow Jesus’ instructions entirely and he limited what God could do. Imagine the fish they would have caught if he let down all the nets! The more we give, the more we receive. God leaves the size of our harvest up to us by how much we are willing to give.

When we sow, God gives us more than we gave. I call that a bargain! Give and give, again and again. Make it a lifestyle, and God will give and keep on giving to you.
