Your History
And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant. II Kings 5:15 (KJV)
The records of the kings of Israel and Judah are in I and II Kings. A of them were bad, but some were good. Some were good and went bad. Some were bad and turned to good. Some of them removed all the false altars and gods, while some did not. Some did right in God’s eyes, yet some left room for compromise, like leaving the high places intact and offering burnt incense. This is the history of men who went before us.
How will your history read when you’re gone? Your story, will it be one about a person who served God whole-heartedly, half-heartedly, or not at all? Will you be sold out to God or will you sell out to the world and sin? Will you be a godly example for your family to follow or will your example be one of compromise? Will your life lead others closer to God or draw them further away from Him?
Leave no room for compromise. If your past was bad, let God rewrite your story and make your life a godly example to bring Him glory. The life you live affects people now and the generations that follow. I and II Kings show us this.
Remember that others are watching. God is watching and waiting for you to serve Him with all your heart and without reservation. May your story be one that inspires and encourages those who come behind you. Walk so that they want to follow in your steps to give God all the glory. Let your story be His story for His glory.
