Disassociate From The Bad

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. II Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

As a new creation, we can disassociate from who we were before we were born again. I was a sinner, but now I’m righteous. Even when I don’t do everything right, I’m still right before God because of what Jesus has done. I may sin, but I am NOT a sinner. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I may yield to sin, but I can gain forgiveness and move on (I John 1:9).

We must disassociate from the bad and associate and identify with the good, no matter what happens in life. We might have had a bad experience or done something bad, but that’s not who we are. God is good and we are now His children. That makes us good too. We must remember this and find our identity in Christ. Don’t let anything or anyone other than the Lord define you. God says who you are. Say who God says you are.

Don’t identify with the wrong done to you or by you. Instead, renounce it and deny it’s ability to influence you. It doesn’t have to have any power or control over you or your life. Confess any sin, dismiss it, and accept forgiveness. Let go of your sins and mistakes- don’t hold onto them. Receive the love and forgiveness of Jesus in its place. Receive His healing, freedom, and protection.

When selfish and wicked people do bad things to us, we can’t let it ruin us or our lives. We can go to God. He knows us and what happened. Get in His Word. Let Holy Spirit counsel you. Receive the touch of God in the deepest and most hidden parts of you. We can trust God; He won’t hurt us. Jesus was hurt so our hurts can be healed. Jesus was mistreated yet overcame it all. Jesus knows how to help and heal you.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, Luke 4:18 (KJV)

Identify and associate with Jesus. He is good and kind, and He is love. Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted. As you give your hurts to Jesus, He will truly fix everything that’s wrong with you. We must forgive, forget, and forge ahead. Forgiveness doesn’t mean that people get away with sin and bad behavior. And it doesn’t mean you let them have access back into your life. It just means you don’t hold anything against them. Let it go and go on with God.

True freedom, healing, and wholeness is found in identifying with Jesus, no matter who you are or what you’ve done. Freedom means we can be ourselves- faults, flaws, failures, and all. We can be ourselves, knowing Jesus loves us and accepts us. We can associate with Him and disassociate from everything bad.
