Happy
Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. Proverbs 3:13 (KJV)
The word happy is esher in the Hebrew language. it refers to a state of prosperity or happiness that comes when a superior bestows his favor upon one. It is a person’s state of bliss in God, and is frequently associated with wisdom. It also describes a person or nation who enjoys a relationship with God (Deuteronomy 33:29, Job 5:17, Psalm 33:12). We’re happy because God has concern for us. No matter what we go through, we can be happy in God. God knows the outcome. He will make it work out for the good.
We can be happy because God is in us, with us, and for us, no matter the situation in life. We’re happy in God because of God Himself. We enjoy a right relationship with God and our heart is right with Him. We enjoy God- His presence, His promises, and His purposes for our lives. Thus, God bestows favor and blessing upon us, even when we don’t deserve it. We can’t earn it. This is called grace. We’re happy because God takes care of us, and we have nothing lacking.
“Now therefore, O sons, listen to me, For blessed [happy, prosperous, to be admired] are they who keep my ways. “Heed (pay attention to) instruction and be wise, And do not ignore or neglect it. “Blessed [happy, prosperous, to be admired] is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at my doorposts. Proverbs 8:32-34 (Amplified Bible, AMP)
We are happy in God, based on the wisdom we receive and walk in. We’re happy based on the relationship we have with God. Wisdom IS Christ; and wisdom comes from God. All we have to do is pursue and ask God for it. He gives it generously. We don’t earn wisdom; we receive it as a gift when we ask for it. The more we pursue and seek after wisdom by studying God’s Word, the more He fills us with His wisdom. And the more we walk in God’s wisdom, the happier we’ll be.
Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God: Psalm 146:5 (KJV)
