Unity and The Anointing
How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony! For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil that was poured over Aaron’s head, that ran down his beard and onto the border of his robe. Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. And there the Lord has pronounced his blessing, even life everlasting. Psalm 133:1-3 (New Living Translation, NLT)
Unity helps us dwell together, living in harmony because this releases the anointing. As we walk in unity, we will enjoy fellowship with God and with one another.
Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Philippians 2:1-2 (New Living Translation, NLT)
As we are unified, there will be agreement among us. Our hearts will be tender and compassionate. Happiness and love will be evident. We’ll work together with one mind and purpose, thus fulfilling God’s purpose. In Acts 2, when the disciples were in one accord, the Holy Spirit moved. When we are in unity, God will be seen in our midst. He will be felt among us and will work among us in power and demonstration of His Spirit.
Unity will release anointing, just as Psalm 133 said the anointing was poured upon Aaron, the high priest. Aaron was covered from head to toe. God wants us to be completely covered with His holy oil of anointing, referring to the Spirit of anointing. Just as Jesus was empowered (Luke 4:18-19), the anointing empowers us and sets us apart unto God to serve Him. It also brings protection. We are consecrated completely to serve God, like Aaron and Jesus. Unity brings this about.
The dew referred to in Psalm 133 speaks of the richness of God’s blessings. God wants to saturate us with His anointing, presence, Spirit, blessings, and Word. Remember that manna fell like dew on the ground and God wants His Word to fall on us in like manner. God has given us His Word to feed us. Morning dew is a daily Word from heaven to fill us so we are saturated with God’s Word, Spirit, and presence. This is a product of unity.
Unity brings refreshing because we get along, and God can come into our midst and be manifested.
No unity, no anointing. No anointing, no blessing. Unity brings anointing that brings blessings. God pronounces His blessing, and we can hear His voice when we are in unity. The ultimate blessing is life everlasting (NLT), or life forevermore (KJV). This starts when we are born-again and lasts into eternity. Harmony, or unity, releases all these blessings!
