Jaw-Dropping and Eye-Popping
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Ephesians 3:20 (KJV)
The word able in this verse in the Greek speaks of having the power to do something. Exceedingly abundantly means super-abundantly, over and above, more than enough. This shows the magnitude of what God is telling us. He’s bigger than words can tell us. He is telling us to believe Him for more because He is more than we can, ask, think, or imagine. His power is super-abundant. He is telling us to ask big, think big, and do big.
As we seek God, asking Him to work on our behalf, we are positioning ourselves to hear and receive from Him. He says to think bigger because He is bigger. Our thoughts and dreams should be in alignment with the size of our God- bigger than anything we’ve ever seen..
The rest of the verse goes on to say “according to the power that worketh in us.” As we allow God’s power to work in, through, and for us, we’ll experience more of who God is and what He is capable of doing.
God will do more, going beyond anything we can ask, think, or imagine, because God is more than our minds can even comprehend. He is more and does more than we can ask because He is unlimited. God wants us to take the limits off of our concept of Him one step at a time, one thing at a time, one day at a time. As we do, He will continue to do bigger and greater things for us. He is able to do things that are jaw-dropping and eye-popping. God wants to wow us. As we continue to expand our belief of Who God is and what He can do, we will be in more and more awe of Him and His acts. He enlarges us to believe for, dream of, and envision that which is far beyond where we are or what we have. He is a pie-in-the-sky kind of God. God will show us that with Him, all things are possible.
Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.” Matthew 19:26 (New Living Translation, NLT)
