Above Only?
And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God…. And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them: Deuteronomy 28:1-2, 13 (KJV) emphasis mine
According to this, God promised we would be above only. We must listen to God and be obedient to Him for all His blessings to come upon us.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: Ephesians 1:3 (KJV)
God has blessed us with blessings in heavenly places.
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: Ephesians 2:6 (KJV)
God has raised us up.
Based on all these verses:
God promised to make us above only.
God has blessed us with spiritual blessings in heavenly places.
God has raised us up.
The first one is a promise, and the last two speak to where we have been placed positionally. The fact is that to experience all these we must believe and walk these truths out. Then, these three become our reality. How?
We are ABOVE sin, sickness, satan, lack, and any other thing that comes against us in life. When a problem arises, we must overcome the problems and not allow them to overcome us. Things will try to put us UNDER their control, but the Lord has already made us ABOVE it all. We are to never be under, but always above it all. The only One we are to be UNDER is the Lord.
When we choose strife over peace, hate over love, foolishness over wisdom, wrong over right, darkness over light, self over God, or satan over Jesus, we come UNDER whatever we’ve given into. Then, it can defeat us and move us from being ABOVE to being BENEATH. This is powerful truth. If the body of Christ could grasp this, it would radically transform their lives and the world.
When we remain vigilant and determined not to give into the flesh and all these other things, we reverse this. This is called resisting the devil. Then, every challenge and attack we encounter stays UNDER us. We maintain a position of the being ABOVE ONLY. Be who you are in Christ. Live out what you believe. Be bigger than small-minded people who want to fuss and argue. Be bigger than any problems by choosing to do God’s Word. As a result, you won’t be BENEATH anything, but ABOVE ONLY, walking in victory. You will experience the blessings of God, reigning as a king in Christ Jesus.
