Seeing From God's Perspective
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. II Corinthians 4:17-18 (KJV)
The things we go through, compared to eternity, are but for a moment, but they work for our glory, and God works it for our good (Romans 8:28). In whatever we face or wherever we are in life, let’s approach it in the light of eternity, from God’s perspective. Don’t look only at what you can see, but look at the unseen God Who has your answer because He is your answer.
A right perspective comes when we choose to look to God and keep our eyes on Him. Rather than rushing into things, we can rely on God to give us what we need in His way and in His time. After all, God has our best in mind.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. Psalm 84:11 (KJV)
God is not holding back or withholding things from us. Instead, he is holding things FOR us. As we learn to trust God, we will do fewer foolish things, and with wisdom we will wait on God to bring to us our hearts’ desires. He’ll meet all our needs and fulfill all his promises to us. As we look into God’s Word, it helps us keep a right perspective, with our hearts and minds on God Instead of on what we want or need. As we look to Him, we see He is our hope, help, and salvation.
Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Psalm 37:4 (KJV)
