God Is Still Writing

God Is Still Writing

God has written down His Word for all to see and know what He plans for us. God wrote, He writes, and He continues to write. God is a writer. What is He writing? Here are just some of the things He is writing:

Book Of The Living

Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. Psalm 139:16 (NIV)

God writes down all the days of each person’s life in a book, The Book Of The Living. We can lengthen or shorten those days by our choices and our words, but God writes at least 120 years for everyone (Genesis 6:3). He writes down His good plan for each person (Jeremiah 29:11) and the paths that He has for us to walk.

For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live]. Ephesians 2:10 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition)

Book Of Remembrance

Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name. Malachi 3:16 (KJV)

God writes down what those who fear Him and reverence Him say about Him. He records their conversations about Him and their thoughts when they think on Him. Thinking about and talking about the Lord honors Him. He wants to be involved in everything we say and do. God remembers our love and deeds for Him and will reward the Christian accordingly.

Book Of Life

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.  Revelation 20:12 (KJV)

There’s a book called The Book Of Life in which God writes. When we receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, God writes our names in the Book Of Life. As we continue to live for Christ, our names remain in this book (Revelation 3:5), but if we choose to depart from Christ, our names are blotted out of the book. If someone who has left God repents and chooses to return to Him, that person’s name is written back in the book. As we abide in Christ, choosing to stay with Him, our salvation is secure. Those whose names are not found in this book at judgment will be separated from God forever, being cast into the Lake of Fire.

Book Of Judgment For The Believer

I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. Daniel 7:9-10 (KJV) emphasis mine

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. II Corinthians 5:10 (KJV)

And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. Revelation 11:18 (KJV) emphasis mine

This takes place in heaven when believers stand before what is called the Bema seat, or the judgment seat of Christ. Believers are judged and rewarded based on their works. The Christian is already saved by Christs finished work at the cross, so this is not a judgment to determine where these people will spend eternity. Those who have accepted Him will be rewarded for what they have done for the Lord. The books will be opened and we will be judged accordingly.

Book Of Judgment For The Unbeliever

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:12-15 (KJV) emphasis mine

At a time after the judgment of the believers who have been raptured takes place, another judgment takes place. It is referred to as the White Throne Judgment. Believers who have received Christ and were judged at the Bema seat will not participate in this judgment. This is a judgment based on what people did with their lives and if their names are written in The Book Of Life.

We can see just by these examples that God is definitely a writer and He is still writing.
