Prophetic Writing, Reading, & Speaking

And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. Luke 4:16-21 (KJV)

This passage shows us three things related to prophecy: prophetic writing, prophetic reading, and prophetic speaking.

Prophetic Writing

This passage references a prophecy written by Isaiah, the prophet. Jesus found it in the book, or the scroll. He unrolled it to where prophecy was written about Him many years in advance. It was prophetically written by Isaiah and pointed to the coming Savior.

God will show us things about us, our lives, and destiny, but we must first know what’s written, even written prophetically. God has it written out for us. We can walk out what is written and but only once it has been discovered.

Prophetic Reading

Jesus began to read what was written prophetically. He read it and understood it was about Him. It spoke of His destiny. He found and read what was written and read it with the revelation of Who He was.

As we read and learn Gods written Word, we’ll know what God says to us and about us. We’ll see what has been written prophetically to us. We’ll see what He has for us and our lives. We’ll see our assignments and purpose in His Word. Psalm 139 refers to our days being written down before we were created. He knew who we would be, and He has included it in His Word. We must read the Bible with a prophetic eye to see God’s will for us.

Prophetic Speaking

Jesus spoke prophetically when He read the prophetic passage out loud and said it was fulfilled before them. He released what had been written about Him and what He read by speaking it verbally. By doing this, He activated the prophecy with His mouth.

So, we see that God uses the prophetic as it is written, read, and spoken to establish it in our lives. As we do what Jesus did, we can also discover and release our prophetic destinies. We can activate who we will become and what we will fulfill. As we use the Word of God, God will use it to fulfill His prophetic vision for our lives. Keep writing, reading, and speaking the prophetic and it will shape, equip, and empower you as a powerful prophetic person for God.
