Have You Outgrown Your Pot?

Have You Outgrown Your Pot?

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. I Corinthians 10:31 (KJV)

Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Cherish her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you. She will give you a garland to grace your head and present you with a glorious crown.” Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many. I instruct you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble. Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life. Proverbs 4:5-13 (New International Version, NIV)

One time I got a prophetic word that said, “The place where your feet are standing won’t be big enough to hold you.” The Lord showed me that I had matured and had outgrown the church where I had attended for many years. God was letting me know that He was moving me on and planting me in another place.

The other day, I was looking at this potted plant that we have and the Lord showed me that the plant had outgrown its pot. This reminded me of the prophetic word I had gotten all those years ago. That word came to me over 18 years ago and I had moved on shortly after.

Since then, I have had many experiences with many people, places, and situations- some good and some bad. Through it all, I’ve been growing in God’s Word and the Holy Spirit, and with it has come growing pains. I know now that I wouldn’t have experienced all that I have experienced had I stayed in the church where I was comfortable. I would have never grown in the Lord like I have to become a better, more well-rounded and balanced person.

And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. Mark 10:29-30 (KJV)

Wherever God moves you and whatever He tells you to do, it really is for your good and your growth- so He may get glory from you and your life. And, whatever you give up, sow, or surrender for the Lord will be paid back to you in this life 100 times over. God’s Word declares it.

So, keep going, keep growing, and keep glorifying the Lord. He will use your life and you’ll become great in God’s kingdom. No matter how it looks or feels, it really is all for the glory of God.
