Focus on His Love

Focus on His Love

Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love. Psalm 48:9 (New International Version, NIV)

It is always good to think on the Lord’s love. I John 4:8 says that God is love. I Corinthians chapter 13 tells us what God is like. He is patient, kind, not easily angered, and He keeps no record of wrongs. He delights in what is good, and He protects, trusts, hopes, and perseveres. We need to meditate on who God is, knowing and reminding ourselves that God is good and He is working for our good.

Love never fails. I Corinthians 13:8 (New International Version, NIV)

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. I Corinthians 13:13 (New International Version, NIV)

When we fail or when people fail us, we must remember to meditate and think on God, who never fails because He is love.

The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. Jeremiah 31:3 (KJV)

God’s love for us goes on forever. When our thinking begins to go in the wrong direction, we need to put our minds back on Jesus, and Jesus will keep us in perfect peace. That peace will keep our hearts and minds. We mustn’t think on how bad life is, but on how good God is. God, Who is Life and everything that is good, will will come into our lives and make life good, As we think on God’s love, we will be happier, more peaceful and more satisfied.

Psalm 48:9, which I noted at the beginning of this post, says we will meditate on God’s unfailing love. Meditate in the original language means to mutter, roll something over and over in your mind, and speak to yourself. We must speak God’s Word and ponder it. We must know that God is love, that He is just, and at just the right time, He will turn bad to good, wrong to right, loss to gain, sickness to health, and curses to blessings.

He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Psalm 40:3 (New International Version, NIV)

Think on God’s love no matter where you are and what you are doing, and your joy will return. You will sing a new song again and it will get you through your day joyfully. You will enjoy your day instead of wishing it away. We must know that God loves us no matter what. Because He loves us, He has given us His very best- and it will manifest at just the right time.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8 (NKJV)
