God's Opinion of Us

God's Opinion of Us

‘May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.’ Numbers 6:24-26 (New Living Translation, NLT)

However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them. John 6:37 (New Living Translation, NLT)

A lot of people think God is angry at them, displeased with them, unhappy with them, and unfriendly towards them. They view God as someone who is waiting to nail them for doing wrong. They see Him as strict disciplinarian, with a frown on His face and a rod of correction in His hand. While God does judge evil, the truth is that He is not mad at people. He hates sin and wickedness, but not people.

Even some believers think that God is disappointed with them. The truth is that God smiles on us and loves us. He isn’t disappointed with us. When we try our best but we mess up, He ‘s not waiting to punish us. He may correct us to keep us from doing harm to ourselves and others, but He does it in love and does not condemn us.

The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. Zephaniah 3:17 (KJV)

God laughs and rejoices over us. He even sings and dances with us. God is a happy and joyful God. He’s not a sad, mad God. he looks at us with eyes of love and compassion. He has a heart of love, kindness, and mercy. if you think God doesn’t like you, think again! God is our provider, not our punisher. The devil is the one who gets pleasure out of inflicting punishment and pain.

I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. Isaiah 43:25 (KJV)

The Lord is not holding our sins against us. Any sin we’ve repented of has been cast into the sea of forgetfulness, and He remembers them no more. God is not frowning down on us; He is smiling down on us. He is there to help us, to accept us and not reject us. He wants to draw us close to Him, not cast us away. His hand will lift us up, not knock us down.

The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. Jeremiah 31:3 (KJV)

We all need to rethink our image of God and reread His book, the Bible. That is where we find the truth about our loving heavenly Father.

So the Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help. O people of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. He will be gracious if you ask for help. He will surely respond to the sound of your cries. Isaiah 30:18-19 (New Living Translation, NLT)
