An Exercise in Faith

For we walk by faith, not by sight. II Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)

This is an often quoted verse among Christians. However, it is one thing to quote it, but it is another thing to actually do it. Hebrews tells us that faith is the evidence of things not seen. In other words, we are to trust God more than we trust our five physical senses. That takes some effort on our part.

The Christian life is one of decision. We must decide to accept Jesus. We must decide to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. We must decide to walk in love. We must decide to walk by faith and not by what we see or hear or feel. To live victoriously, we must make biblically-based decisions everyday.

Right now, we are in the midst of a true exercise in faith. We must decide to believe God and His promises over the way things appear to be. It looks like evil has won and that there is no way out of the tyrannical mess we are in. It looks like inflation will never quit and our finances will all be wiped out. News reports are saying that a nuclear war is imminent. There are rumors of new pandemics, more riots, and crises on every side. That is how things look, but that is not what is true.

Even if everyone else is a liar, God is true. As the Scriptures say about him, You will be proved right in what you say, and you will win your case in court.” Romans 3:4 (New Living Translation, NLT)

Appearances can be deceiving. Things are not as they appear to be. We can’t trust our eyes and ears to tell us what is real. Far too many things can be fabricated these days for us to take what is presented to us by the media, the government, and others as being true. People are not who they say they are. Circumstances are not what they seem. Right now, more than ever before, we must get in the Word and get in the presence of God to be able to discern what is real and what is fake. The Lord has given us the Bible to read about the times we are living through. He has given us the voice of His prophets, who have been speaking out and giving us the news before the news.

God has been warning us that difficult times were coming before we would experience the great awakening and outpouring of His glory. He has also told us that the perilous times we would be going through would be times of judgment on the wicked but would be times of protection for those who trust in Him. He has also told us of the times ahead that will be wonderful beyond imagination and of the great transfer of wealth from the wicked to the just. That is what is true, not the reports of the news media, health industry, political entities, or any globalist organization.

It could be easy to get worked up and worried about what appears to be happening, but if we walk by faith and not by sight, we’ll remind ourselves of the things the Lord has spoken and we will have peace in the midst of the craziest of times. We were chosen to live at this particular time in history. It is an amazing time to be alive. Our generation will help to bring in the great end time harvest of souls. It is a glorious time. It is not a time to be afraid. It is not a time to pull back. It is a time to walk by faith, stand with courage and boldness, and experience the overwhelming victory we’ve been promised.
