The Red Sea is Closing on Our Enemies

And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. Exodus 14:13 (NKJV)

The Israelites were in a tight spot- trapped between the Red Sea and the armies of Egypt. It seemed there was no way out. But, God inspired the words of Moses when he told the people that the Egyptians they saw that day they would see again no more forever. I find it intriguing that he used the phrase no more forever. Why not just say no more? Why did he add the word forever? I believe it was to emphasize how badly Pharoah was going to be defeated- totally and completely. He was speaking forth a defeat so bad that the nation of Egypt would never arise again as a super power.

And today, our God is telling us to speak the same thing that Moses did. We are to decree that the Lord is fighting for us and will save us from the wicked oppressors. He is releasing us from bondage and slavery. And the enemies we see today, we shall see again no more forever.

The wicked would have us believe that they are all-powerful and that our God is either dead or doesn’t care. Of course, they are liars like their father, the devil. God’s record is undefeated and He isn’t about to start losing now. He cares about His people and He will always right wrong. It’s just a matter of the proper timing.

Think about the story of the Exodus. If God had opened the Red Sea too early, the armies of Egypt might have been too far away to follow the Israelites into the sea. Therefore, they would not have been wiped out when the waters came back together. If God had waited too long to close the Red Sea, the armies may have caught up with the Hebrews. It was a matter of perfect timing. The same is true now.

If the timing isn’t right, then wicked people will go free and righteous people may be enslaved by them again in the future. This must not happen. Therefore, God is about to close the Red Sea- at just the right time so that the enemies we see today we shall see again no more forever.
