A Message For Married Couples

A Message For Married Couples

My beloved is mine, and I am his. Song of Solomon 2:16 (KJV)

Marriage is a union ordained by God as being between one man and one woman. The Bible tells us He made them (mankind) male and female. Marriage was established by God and the definition and boundaries of marriage are set forth by God alone.

A mate is a gift from God. God is love, and love is from God and it’s for us and for one another. We are to love, cherish, protect, honor and enjoy our mates as being divinely provided to us. In marriage, we belong to one another, to give ourselves to each other in love and respect- unashamed. We belong to each other to have and to hold ‘til death do us part. Our words of covenant, spoken in wedding vows, are holy before God.

We are to live together knowing each other’s likes, dislikes, desires, and learning more about each other daily. We are becoming one flesh, which is a lifelong process. We were made uniquely different, yet we need each other to complement and complete each other.

The wife is the man’s help mate, so men, let her help you. She can help you with insight, wisdom, advice, and support. The husband is the leader, so women, let him lead. He can lead, love and protect you. The woman is to partner with him in love and respect. The two are to work together in unity.

Married couples- God brought the two of you together to know God, then to know one another, helping to fulfill each other’s needs and desires. As the two of you walk together and with the Lord, God’s plan can be fulfilled in you and through you. As God loves us, we love Him, then we can love each other. Learn to live together, grow together, know each other, and trust each other. Have each other’s back. Walk togethter in wisdom, love and purity, protecting the treasures you are, and glorifying God in all you say and do. Keep God first in oyur lives and at the center of your marriage, and your marriage will be a witness of the goodness and love of God.
