How To Endure the Night

How To Endure the Night

…weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Psalm 30:5 (KJV)

Each of us will face weeping; a night of sorrow, pain and trouble. Know that no matter how long a night may be, it doesn’t last forever. The night will pass and morning will come. I’ve heard it said that every trouble has an expiration date. God has given us an endurance that will outlast any night we face and any weeping we encounter.

Joy in the Hebrew here means singing. The earlier verses of this Psalm speak of extolling the Lord, singing and thanking Him. The Lord in this chapter is Jehovah, or Yahweh in Hebrew, which means I Am (Exodus 3). it refers to the eternal, unchanging One. Because God is eternal and He lives in us, He gives us strength to outlast any attack, trouble, or problem. He gives us the strength and stamina to endure until the night passes and morning arrives.

As we sing to God, we tap into God Himself- His person, presence, power, and promises. That gives us the ability to endure. We find Jehovah, the Revealing One, to be all we need.

God in Psalm 30 is Elohim, our Creator. He who made us will keep us. As we hang in there and see who Jehovah is, we will also see that Elohim, God our Creator, the Eternal, Unchanging One, has made new things and has done new things with the arrival of morning. As we know God, trust Him, and receive all that He is, we can stand and out last and endure until the end.

Sing to the Lord. Thank your God. And He will lead you into new victory.

Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever. Psalm 30:11-12 (KJV)

Those who endure to the end, win!
