Most High
I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high. Psalm 7:17 (KJV)
In the original Hebrew text, Most High is El Elyon, or the Mighty One Most High. He is above all gods. The first place He is called the Most High God is in Genesis 14.
And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all. Genesis 14:18-20 (KJV)
God is the Most High; there is no one higher. He God above all- above anyone and everyone, above anything and everything. He is the Lord Most High, which speaks of Him as the one and only true God. He is above all other gods because they are false gods. He is the Lord Almighty, Jehovah (Yahweh in Hebrew).
In Genesis 14, we see that God Most High is the Creator and Owner of heaven and earth and He is the one who delivers enemies into the hand of the righteous. As the Most High, He has power over creation. He is above every enemy. He can and will bring them down, and if there is no repentance, He will bring them to an end. He is just and will vindicate His own, so remember that the battle belongs to Him.
And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's. II Chronicles 20:15 (KJV)
And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. Exodus 14:13-14 (KJV)
And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Luke 18:7-8 (KJV)
The Most High is just and will bring justice. No one can stand against Him. No one can overthrow Him. No one can defeat Him. We praise Him because He always makes things right. His is always above and never beneath, therefore so are we. Because of Him, truth and justice will prevail!
