Step Into Maturity

Step Into Maturity

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 (KJV)

Missteps and misspoken words often come from immaturity. We all make mistakes, but the biggest mistake is when we fail to learn from our mistakes and we keep making the same ones over and over.

One of our biggest problems is ourselves. It’s been said many times that we are our own worst enemy. While I believe the devil is the worst enemy we have, we cannot downplay the role we have in hindering ourselves.

We have to look to God and cooperate with Him to learn from what we go through and to grow from it. We have to allow God to change us- and even to heal us and remove the pain of our past mistakes.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. John 15:4 (KJV)

The Holy Spirit can grow us as we yield to Him and stay in God’s Word. That’s how we mature and bear good fruit. The more we die to ourselves and the more we live our lives unto God, the more He can live through us. As a result, we become more and more like Christ. Then, the missteps and the misspoken words become fewer and fewer. We live the Chirst life and not the self-life.

In the mistakes we make and the messes we create, the Lord is working to bring us to a higher level of accountability and maturity. So, keep taking steps in God. Continue to walk with Him into greater maturity. And the things which held you back will hold you back no more.
