No Room for Fear

No Room for Fear

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)

This is a powerful verse. it clearly shows that God does not want us to be in fear because, as He declares, He is with us, giving us strength and all the help we need.

“Fear not” is a phrase God put throughout the Bible. When we read it, we may think that it means we are not to feel fear or be attacked by fear, but that is not true. Consider how this verse is rendered by The Passion Translation.

Do not yield to fear, for I am always near. Never turn your gaze from me, for I am your faithful God. I will infuse you with my strength and help you in every situation. I will hold you firmly with my victorious right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10 (TPT)

There it is- do not yield to fear, or give into it. We are not faith failures if we feel fear. Fear not means that we are not to give in to fear. Fear itself is a spirit, and that spirit is sent by the enemy to stop us. He may see some blessing coming our way in the spirit realm and may be trying to get us to stop it from coming by acting in fear and contradicting our faith. If we choose to move ahead in spite of feelings of fear, then we have been successful in “fearing not.” The key is not to allow the spirit of fear to control us.

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control]. II Timothy 1:7 (Amplified Bible, AMP)

And we have authority over the devil and his demons, so we can resist the spirit of fear when it comes. We can rebuke it and tell it to leave in Jesus’ name. If we continue to stand against it, it will have no choice but to flee. God has made us victorious over fear because fear has torment.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. I John 4:18 (NKJV).

When we are fully convinced of God’s love for us, fear has no hold over us. Love and fear cannot coexist. I John 4:18 in The Message says “there is no room in love for fear.” As we spend time with the Lord and as we get in the Bible, fear will be crowded out by love. We will become so assured that God loves us that we will be fearless. Feelings of fear will have no effect on us. Get in His presence and get filled up with the love of the Father, and you will be unstoppable.
