Fighting From Victory

Fighting From Victory

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. I Timothy 6:12 (KJV)

Fight in the Greek means agonize and speaks of an intense struggle against a foe or foes. According to Greek scholar Rick Renner, it is an athletic term that refers to the attitudes and activities of a committed athlete, and it describes a heroic act.

It points to those who run a race or compete in an athletic contest. In ancient times, it referred to running a marathon. We are to run our race of faith (I Corinthians 9:24-27). We are to fight, contend, compete to win. If we keep fighting, we’re sure to win. We run until we win the race and gain the prize. It is actually more of an athletic term than a military one.

We are called to fight until our victory manifests. We must fight for what we believe in- faith, family, freedom. We fight to keep things, to take things back, to take ground, and to maintain ground. We fight for our health, finances, family, friends, souls, our nation, and so on. But we must remember that this is not a natural fight with natural weapons.

For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds, II Corinthians 10:4 (Amplified Bible, AMP)

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. Ephesians 6:10-18 (KJV)

We are to use the weapons God has given us: His Word, prayer, worship, faith, etc. And we don’t surrender to defeat by speaking sickness, lack defeat, and so on. We fight until God’s promises are manifested. We fight FROM a position of victory, not FOR victory. We simply fight to enforce our victory until there is manifestation.
