Oh Say Can You See?

“Oh say can you see, by the dawn’s early light, what so proudly we hailed at the twightlight’s last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight…”

During the War of 1812, Francis Scott Key penned these words as he looked for the American flag the morning after a huge, strategic battle. If he were to see Old Glory still flying like it had been the evening before, then he would know that the American troops had been victorious. And he was not disappointed. In his joy, he wrote the words of what would become our national anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner.” The light of day brought the assurance of victory.

Consider where we are right now. It seems we have decended into deep darkness as a nation. We’ve been the middle of a massive battle; a fight for freedom and for the continued existence of our Republic. In the dark of night, it can be hard to see the state of the battle. But, hold on for the dawn’s early light. When the dust settles and the sun has risen, we will see that flag still flying over our nation as God intended. We will arise out of the darkness and we will enjoy the light of a brand new day- a day full of victory and joy. And out of this struggle, we will emerge stronger and more full of faith than ever before. And this shall be the catalyst for the greatest spiritual awakening the world has ever known.

For the earth will be filled With the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, As the waters cover the sea. Habakkuk 2:14 (NKJV)

Even now, God is working to finalize our victory. He’s been involved in the fight all along- even before we knew we were in a fight. Because God has a covenant with this nation and with her founders, He will not let her go under. It is only a matter of time before things will be put right. Stay in faith and speak words of victory over this nation and the world. See things through the eyes of faith. Evil is being judged, and righteousness and justice are prevailing in the United States of America.

”Oh, say can you see…?”
