Wish List?

The phrase, “I wish” is probably one of the most worthless phrases in the English language. We’ve all used it, but it is void of any power. Wishing means to want or desire something, but it carries no guarantee of an outcome. Wishing is just the ineffective act of wanting something. It’s even somewhat negative. Consider this statement: “Johnny, I wish I could buy you that toy, but…” It is wistful and expects nothing to happen.

Faith, on the other hand carries carries the creative power of God and is full of expectation. When we use our faith for something, we are standing on the promises in the Word of God for what we want or need. Speaking the Word of God and believing Him for our desires to come to pass is biblical. Although it may seem like we are manipulating God to get what we want, God actually wants us to use our faith. It is the only way to please Him. Only by speaking the Word of God, keeping our focus on God, and acting when and if the Holy Spirit leads us to act, can we get supernatural results. Jesus died to give us the power and authority in His name to bring about the manifestation of what we desire.

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. Hebrews 11:6 (New Living Translation, NLT)

It is the Christmas season and so many people make what they call wish lists. There’s nothing wrong with making wish lists- it helps friends and family members know what to give as gifts. I am not criticizing that. However, what if we were to make “faith lists” and use them year-round to believe God for prosperity for our families, health for our bodies, peace in our world, and revival in our nations? Imagine the impact we would have! Let’s commit to using our faith to make wishes become reality.
