Father Knows Best

You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. Genesis 50:20 (New Living Translation, NLT)

In all that Joseph went through, it ended up for the good of everyone involved, including Joseph. Joseph told his brothers that God had sent him to Egypt to preserve life. Whether Joseph knew it or not at the time, God was leading him all along the way. I’m not saying that God brought the bad stuff that happendd to Joseph, but God was using the people and events in Joseph’s life to prepare him and position him for leadership. The Lord wanted him to be a leader to protect and preserve people’s lives.

God will lead us in ways that we won’t understand and put us in places where it might be uncomfortable or even painful at the time, but God is keeping us alive and positioning us for things to come. Recently, God moved us from a big city to a very small town in a remote location. We wondered why God would place us here, but immediately after that, the nation was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Where God placed us has not been hit as hard as some locations and the lockdown has not been as severe for us. In hindsight, we can see the hand of God positioning us, protecting us and preserving us.

Can you think of times when you were scratching your head and questioning God about what He was doing, but later it made more sense to you? Keep that in mind as you move forward, and understand that when you are in the midst of difficulties, you are likely right where God wants you in order to preserve, protect and provide for you.

We must learn to trust God with our lives. After all, Father knows best.
