From God's Heart, Head, and Hand

From God's Heart, Head, and Hand

Lately I’ve been meditating on the heart, head and hand of God., and the Lord has shown me some good insights about them.

The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you. Jeremiah 31:3 (NKJV)

From God’s heart of love spring compassion, kindness, and tender mercies. God loves us, care about us, and is ever with us (I Peter 5:7, Matthew 1:23)

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 (New International Version, NIV)

From God’s head come good plans for our lives. God thinks of us, plans good things for us, and has big dreams for us (Psalm 139:1-18)

When you open your hand, you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing. Psalm 145:16 (New Living Translation, NLT)

From God’s hand come guidance, protection, and provision. According to Psalm 31:15, our times are in His hand. Psalm 139:10 tells us that His hand leads us and holds us. (Psalm 106:10, Psalm 104:28, Psalm 119:173, Psalm 108:6)

God’s Heart:

God’s heart is bigger than the galaxy; it goes on and on without end. He loves us with an everlasting love- unending and undying. He would rather die than to not have us, which is why Jesus died to bring us back to the Father. Jesus chose us, so we must now choose Him and His love for us. His love is the basis of His care for us. He is always with us and will never leave us. Jesus is with us for all time, and even when time is up, He will remain with us for all eternity. We can trust on and rely on God’s love for us. It is steadfast and unwavering. Even when we mess up and fall short, He loves us and will lift us back up, making our lives significant.

God’s Head:

Because God loves us, He thinks of us continually. He is constantly planning the best for our lives and for our eternity. His thoughts are higher than ours, but as we read His Word, God begins to reveal His thoughts to us. His thoughts about us are good, not evil, to prosper us not to harm us. His thoughts about us are more in number than the sands on the seashore. He is thinking and planning things for us that are bigger and better than we could ever imagine, ask, think, or dream (Ephesians 3:20). Yet, He reveals them to us.

God’s Hand:

God’s hand guides, protects and provides for us. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, guides His flock. In John 10, we read that as His sheep, we hear His voice and follow Him. Ezra chapters 7 and 8 speaks of the hand of the Lord being on him, which is how He provided for them. He provided strength (Ezra 7:28), people they needed (Ezra 7:18), deliverance from enemies (Ezra 7:31), and favor to accomplish the work of God (Ezra 7:6). The hand of God gives power and confers blessing.

From God’s heart comes His desires for us. Then, from His head, He draws up His plans, and by His hand, He carries them out. God does all this for His kingdom- and our benefit!
