Mind, Mouth, and Movement

Mind, Mouth, and Movement

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. I Corinthians 9:24-27 (KJV)

Our spirit man, combined with a mind renewed by the Word of God, uses our mouth and speaks God’s Word to bring our body into obedience. As we feed on and do God’s Word, our spirits get stronger. As we are in the Word, our minds learn to think right. Then, as we speak and act on the Word, we bring our bodies into subjection to do what our spirits tell them to do.

We don’t let our bodies, or our flesh, rule and reign in our lives. Instead, we make the body yield since our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, or the dwelling place of God. As we rule our being by God’s Word and Spirit, we won’t allow our flesh to cause us to miss the mark and get us off course or knock us out of the race. We will not become a castaway, or disqualified from the race we are called to run.

As our minds are renewed to the Word, our mouths line up to speak the Word, and we will bring our bodies into obedience to obey the Word. This causes us to run a straight course in our race, bringing others to Jesus, and reaching the finish line to obtain the prize, which is eternity with Christ. When we align our mind, mouth and movement with the Word, we are truly in it to win it!
