The Omni-God

We have a God that is amazing. The prefix omni comes from the Latin, and simply means “all.” Theologians identify some of the main attributes of the Lord as omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence.

Omnipotence: All-Powerful

Our God is all-powerful. There is no being or force in existence anywhere that can compare in power to our Lord.

Once God has spoken; Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God Psalm 62:11 (New American Standard Bible, NASB).

“To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. Isaiah 40:25-26 (New International Version, NIV)

And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength. Ephesians 1:19 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition, AMPC)

To get an idea of the power of our God, consider the power released in an atomic explosion, or the electrical power required to provide the world’s energy needs, or even the power that is given off by a solar flare- and multiply it many times over. We have no way to measure God’s power, because God is infinite and cannot be measured. One thing we do know- God’s power is stronger than anything, even death. The power of love is the strongest force known, and God is love.

Omniscience: All-Knowing

The Lord knows all things. It is by Him that all things were created. All wisdom and knowledge belong to Him.

All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being. John 1:3 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition, AMPC)

We cannot wrap our minds around God’s wisdom and knowledge! Its depths can never be measured! We cannot understand His judgments or explain the mysterious ways that He works!  Romans 11:33 (The Voice, VOICE)

For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:6 (KJV)

Any human being who believes he can match wits with God is sorely mistaken. His ways are higher than our ways. The wisdom, knowledge, creativity and genius of God cannot be matched. Only the Lord in His brilliance has created the universe, the cosmos, and everything in it and beyond it. That requires infinite knowledge.

Omnipresence: All-Present

God is everywhere at all times. He is present in every corner of the world, as well as in heaven, and in every inch of everything that has ever been created. He is present in the realm of time, as well as in eternity. He is not limited by time and space.

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:20 (KJV)

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Hebrews 13:5 (KJV)

The Holy Spirit can indwell every believer, while simultaneously convicting sinners around the world. At the same time, Christ is seated on His throne in heaven, at the right hand of the Father. The concept that God is all-present is challenging to our limited thinking, but none the less it is true.

The world is searching for the supernatural and amazing. They flock to movies about superheroes and they are riveted to tv shows about the paranormal. Let’s pray that they turn away from those counterfeits and turn to the only real superhero: the all-powerful, all-knowing, all-present Jehovah God.
