The Blazing Fire of God

I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Matthew 3:11 (KJV) emphasis mine

When we are baptized in the Holy Spirit, or the Spirit comes on us, the fire of God comes in and on us. We become on fire for God, burning for God and with God. We can stoke and add fuel to that fire so we brun brighter and hotter for Him. We become so passionate for Him and our love, thirst and hunger for God cannot be quenched by anyone or anything. The desire for God increases, and we want to be closer to Him and walk with Him daily. The fire of God will cause us to love God more than we love ourselves or the world, going after God with all our heart, soul, and body. When you’re on fire, your prayers, worship, and witness will be focused on God and others rather than yourself.

When we’re on fire for God, we burn with the purity of God and all impurity is consumed and burned up in the presence of the Lord. We can become so consumed with God that we want more and more of Him and His presence daily. In this condition, we’ll allow nothing to stand in the way that would put that fire out. And the fire of God becomes greater than the fiery trials we face.

Pain, hardship, and persecution has no ability to burn us out because the fire of God in us is burning brighter and hotter, consuming anything we face. Instead of problems and trials consuming us, the fire of God destroys them. Even when we go through the fire of adversity, the fire of God burns brighter, hotter, and longer to make us stronger than ever. Fiery trials won’t defeat us, and we come out better and wiser than before because we have the fire of God inside us. And the fire of God in us will continue to grow and increase, causing us to be more on fire for God and His presence than ever. We find out God is more real and stronger than anything in the world, and we won’t even smell like smoke. People will look at us and they won’t know we’ve been through any trial, but instead they’ll see the passionate fire of God aflame in us. What is not of God is burned up, and all people will see in us is Jesus.

The more we pray, worship, and spend time with God, we add fuel to the fire. Then, the fire gets stronger and hotter and brighter, and others will come to see us burn for God. As they are drawn to the fire, they will catch the spark and begin to burn for the Lord as well. Soon, everyone and everything will be on fire for Him. What a holy, amazing, blazing inferno!
