Anointing By Association

And it came to pass, when the Lord would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel…. And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho…. And Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the Lord hath sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on….And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground. And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so. And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces. He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan; And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the Lord God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over. II Kings 2:1-2, 4, 6, 8-14 (KJV)

And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. Matthew 10:1 (KJV)

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8 (KJV)

Who we are around affects who we become. There is an anointing that comes by association.

What anointing do you want to carry? Find someone with that anointing to associate with. If you want to carry a healing anointing, the be around healing, anointed vessels. Get around those with a healing anointing so you can receive from them to carry that anointing.

Elisha was the minister to Elijah, serving him. As we serve an anointed person, we can receive that anointing by association; what is on them gets on you. And like Elisha, there is the opportunity for the anointing to be increased on the one who serves.

In the same way, as we spend time with God, we can gain anointing from Him- He can put in us and on us what He has for us. In God’s presence, His presence gets in us and on us, and those around God will feel the anointing, the presence of God.

There is also an anointing of God in and on the Word of God. So, get in God’s Word and His Word will get in and on you. Then, you can have an anointed word for others. God’s Word will anoint you, and what you say will be anointed.

Be filled with the Holy Spirit to be anointed. At salvation, He will get in you (John 3:3), but at the Holy Spirit baptism, He gets on you and you speak in tongues and become anointed for success (Acts 2:4).

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. Luke 4:18-19 (KJV)

As Holy Spirit anointed Christ, He anoints us to be like Christ, do like Christ, and even do greater works. When you are anointed and carry the anointing, all you do will be anointed. You can go, and touch people with the Anointed One, Christ, and with His anointing. As we know Christ, hear Him, and encounter Him, He will touch us afresh with his anointing. As a result, we carry Christ the Anointed One and His Anointing. This enables us to do the works of Christ and greater works. And as we walk in the character of Christ, we can walk in the anointing of Christ.

The law of association is always at work. We become like those we are around. So, we must associate with the people who have an anointing we are seeking. And that includes associating with the Lord.
