Expect Divine Turn-Around

In those days Hezekiah became sick and was at the point of death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him, “Thus says the Lord: Set your house in order, for you shall die, you shall not recover.”  Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, and said, “Please, O Lord, remember how I have walked before you in faithfulness and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly. Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah: “Go and say to Hezekiah, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Behold, I will add fifteen years to your life.  I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and will defend this city. “This shall be the sign to you from the Lord, that the Lord will do this thing that he has promised:  Behold, I will make the shadow cast by the declining sun on the dial of Ahaz turn back ten steps.” So the sun turned back on the dial the ten steps by which it had declined. Isaiah 38:1-8 (English Standard Version, ESV)

Hezekiah was sick and he received a word from Isaiah the prophet that he would die. Hezekiah cried out to God, and God told Isaiah to tell him that he would live and his life would be extended. God spared Hezekiah’s life and gave him a sign that what He said would come to pass. He turned back the shadow on the sundial. In other words, He turned back time as a sign to Hezekiah. We need to pay attention to the things that God does for us and the ways He is showing us He loves us.

God is the God of the turn-around. Like He did for Hezekiah, God will turn things for us.

  • He will turn back time (Joel 2:25).

  • He will turn things around in our lives and set us on a new course.

  • He will turn the things meant for evil and use them for good.

  • God will turn sickness into healing.

  • God turns death into life.

  • God turns situations and makes them as if they never happened.

  • He turns sorrow into joy.

When we cry out to God in prayer and give our problems, concerns, and circumstances to Him, He will turn them around. When we have a heart for God and we seek Him, He is faithful to turn each negative thing into something beneficial. Even when we sin, if we repent, He will turn it around for us. He can even take a death sentence, a negative report, and turn it around (Psalm 118:17).

Don’t give up, God will turn things around! Cry out to God and expect divine turn-around in your life and in the world. Our God is the God of the turn-around.
