Cure For The Cause

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. I Peter 5:7 (KJV)

Unrelenting disappointment leaves you heartsick, but a sudden good break can turn life around. Proverbs 13:12 (The Message, MSG)

Today I want to talk abut emotional cares and dealing with a key root cause of emotional stress. I believe disappointment, when not dealt with properly, creates significant emotional issues. Disappointment causes negative emotions, which can cause soulish and physical pain.

We go through life and we expect something to go one way and it goes differently than we wanted. As a result, we feel disappointment. The word appoint means to establish, choose, invest, arrange. Therefore, disappointment is the opposite- it causes something to not be established. In other words, it comes against our hopes and desires to foil, thwart, frustrate and defeat them.

If we carry that disappointment it affects our emotions. When we don’t give it to God, we repress, or try to bury, that disappointment. When we don’t face it and instead leave it buried, it begins to manifest in mental, emotional, and even physical problems. This, in turn, causes us to be unhappy and unhealthy. We lose our joy, peace, focus, etc. We get stuck in the past and we fail to live in today the way God wants us to. Disappointment that has not been properly handled will cause us to lose sight of our future.

Instead of carrying the disappointment that we’ve tried to bury, we can rid ourselves of the negative effects of disappointment by casting our cares on the Lord. Instead of addressing the negative mental, emotional, and physical results of disappointment, we must cure the cause itself and deal with the disappointment by giving it to Jesus.

We are told to cast our cares on Jesus because He cares for us. He does care and He can do something about it. He can free and heal us from what ails us. When we give the disappointment to Jesus, He will show us that He has the care cure. He heals our hearts of the wounds that were caused by the disappointment and He reappoints us, giving us healing, peace, and new vision. He re-establishes our hope. He enables us to live without disappointment and instead we move ahead as re-appointed people.

So, to recap, the cure for the cause is to cast all care, hurt, and disappointment on Jesus Christ because He truly cares for you. Get in His presence and permit Him to remove the sting of disappointment. Allow Him to draw out the buried emotions and get it out once and for all so you can go free. When you give it all to Jesus, He will give you what you need to move on. It is a great exchange- His peace for your cares.
