God's Timing Is Perfect

It is crucial that we wait on God’s timing. Trust in Him and His plan is a vital piece of this. When we don’t trust the Lord, we usually try to make things happen on our own. We must remember that when God makes us wait, He is protecting us and preparing things for us. We’re not going to hurry God, but we can delay things and make things take longer than necessary.

Regardless of the thing we are believing for, whether it’s a mate, a ministry or money, we have to understand God has our best interests in mind in how He orchestrates things. We must believe He is working out His plan for us. And we must learn to discern God’s timing.

For example, Moses tried to liberate the children of Israel in his own timing and in his own way. As a result, he spent 40 years in the wilderness of Midian.

And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren. And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand. And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow? And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known. Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian Exodus 2:11-15a (KJV)

Moses felt God’s call and purpose on His life to deliver the Israelites, but He did not wait on God. God had to take Him to the desert to prepare Him in order for the plan of God to come to pass. We must not only know God’s call, but His timing as well. Moses’ impulsive act of killing an Egyptian not only cost him 40 years, but it likely prolonged the amount of time the Israelites were in bondage. When we fail to wait on the Lord, we affect ourselves, plus we affect others.

Abraham is another example. He and Sarah tried to help God out by having a son through Sarah’s handmaid Hagar. Ishmael was born, creating problems for Abraham and Sarah. As a matter of fact, the descendants of Ishmael are still causing problems for the nation of Israel to this day.

God’s plan and His timing are always perfect. Don’t try to hurry God along- it never works, and it can create delays and problematic repercussions for ourselves and others.
